Well represented in the Roubaix Museum s collections since 1991, Elisabeth de Senneville was invited for a first show in 1994. Titled, Elisabeth de Sennevile fashion outside fashion , the exhibition was centred on her work as a stylist. With this new exhibition Elisabeth de Senneville. Freeze Frame(s) presented from June 29 to September 15, 2013, La Piscine brings an enthralled look on the designer s graphic universe in the areas of textile and design. Through this very personal exhibition unveiling over 200 articles (textile, clothing and objects), La Piscine renews its admiration for this exceptional designer and absolute pioneer. As a designer who goes beyond fashion and the norm, Elisabeth de Senneville defines herself as a techno designer but she is much more than that. She is a true artist who has breathed a visionary aesthetic life into the world of fashion and design. Elisabeth de Senneville draws her inspiration from her passion for 18th century painting, Pop Art, the avant garde or the world of graffiti artists, to invent a design language and to transform futuristic materials.

A pioneer, as early as 1977, and for the first time in the world of fashion, she used computers and videos in her textile creations. This summer s exhibition at La Piscine sheds light on the inventiveness and the modernity of her drawings before their use for clothing lines that Elisabeth de Senneville often cuts from innovative materials (liquid crystals, neoprene, woven fiber optics,…), materials diverted from their intended use (shower curtains, air chambers) or materials borrowed from everyday (working coveralls).

Since the beginning of the 2000 s, Elisabeth de Senneville has concentrated her activity on innovation and new textile technologies such as anti-pollution or photo-luminescent fabrics. In 2006, she received the Prix de l Innovation a prize for innovation – for her research and findings on intelligent materials that are used today by large international groups with whom she collaborates such as Bultex, France Telecom, Peugeot, A roports de Paris.

The scenography designed by the architect Fr d rique Danneels-B cue is both graphic and contemplative with video and photo projections on the ceiling that face off with over 200 textile pieces as well as a dozen articles of clothing and unexpected objects (lights, sunglasses,…) which come from the designer s personal collection.
