London has many great qualities from the plethora of things there are to do to the vibrant and youthful nightlife. Moving here is a great way to enjoy a more exciting way of life, to advance your career and to grow as a person when you\\’re young, but it can also be somewhat lonely and intimidating if you\\’re not used to it.
For all there are thousands of people milling about the streets of London at any time, it can actually feel very lonely being here. The people as a rule aren\\’t terribly friendly as everyone always seems to be in a rush to get somewhere, and although there are lots of people to meet there are seldom any opportunities to do so. Even dating in London is difficult as most guys seem to be more interested in having a bit of fun while their young and as there\\’s again just not much time to mingle.
But if you find yourself feeling lonely and isolated in the big city then you should know that there are things you can do. Here we will look at some of the ways you can feel less lonely here and start to really enjoy the excitement of London\\’s social scene.
Online Dating
If you\\’re feeling lonely and are single, then online dating is a very viable option these days. While it might once have been viewed with a bit of derision, today practically everyone is heading online to meet people and there are a ton of people on those sites living in London. If nothing else this is a great way to meet some new people and to get some funny stories to tell your friends.
Classes
London is full of fun classes from dance classes to cocktail making classes to martial arts. In short, anything you want to try you can try in London and this is a great way to get meeting new people at the same time as learning some new skills and abilities. Look online for classes in your area and sign up – even if you don\\’t make any close new friends you\\’ll get a chance to mingle while you\\’re actually there.
Accommodation
One of the best ways to live in London is to find roommates and do a flat share. This will save you money first and foremost because your rent will be split across a bunch of you, but better yet it will also mean you make lots of new friends very quickly. Living in a flat share is just like living at University all over again and you\\’ll find that you forge stronger bonds living with people than you would any other way. At the same time you\\’ll be able to meet their friends and go on their nights out, and you\\’ll generally enjoy a much more varied and active social life.
Be Open
To meet new people and have a great time in London you need to put yourself out there and be willing to take opportunities as they arrive. Don\\’t be shy – take advantage of invitations when they come up and try as many new things as you can.
